People Watching
My favorite photos are candids. Photos that capture pure and real emotion. Moments frozen in time that tell a story.
I knew when I got into this hobby, event and street photography would be my favorite. People fanscinate me. The way they interact with each other, the way they engage with the world around them, and the way they express emotion. Every person is completely unique in those three aspects. I've always enjoyed people watching and now that I have a camera I can take it to the next level.
I had plans yesterday to meet a few friends in the city for lunch so I figured I'd take the train a few hours early and take a walk through Center City Philadelphia with my camera. I got off the train and noticed that there seemed to be a lot more tourists than usual. Apparently there's some sort of WWE event happening this weekend and there are tons of people from out of state. I had an idea that the Art Museum might be a great place to hang out for a few hours since it's one of the main tourist attractions. So I took a walk over and got to shooting. Familys, friends, solo travelers, school field trips, even a girl's quinceañera photo shoot. There were all kinds of people there from all over.
Everyone that was there was experiencing something fun for the first time and there were lots of moments worth photographing. I had a great time not only taking photos, but interacting with people who noticed me. Many of which who liked my pictures and asked if I could send them. I learned today that my camera isn't just a way to express myself creatively, it can also be a new way for me to interact and connect with other people.
Taking my camera places, even ones I've already been, makes me feel like I'm experiencing life in a new way. It's refreshing, interesting, engaging, and satisfying. I'm starting to get really excited for where my photography will take me next.
